South East Wales ESDGC Forum
Formed over a year ago, the South East Wales Forum was established to address the growing area of Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC). The forum is a collaboration, consisting of officers from Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen, which meets regularly to drive the ESDGC agenda within the four authorities.
In its first year of operation;
- a generic ESDGC policy for schools has been produced;
- a strategic conference for Headteachers has been held;
- and curriculum audit tools and self-evaluation procedures have been developed.
Exciting developments for the next academic year (06/07) include;
- conferences for both primary and secondary teachers and ESDGC coordinators;
- ongoing INSET for schools;
- and last but not least the website you are now reading.
The forum already works in close collaboration with the Enabling Effective Support Officer (Colette Pitts), Welsh Assembly Government, Non Government Organisations (e.g. Cyfanfod) and Estyn.
